Compensation Information: $25.00-29.00 per hour

Position Summary  

As a Lead Dental Assistant with X-ray, you will help support the clinical needs of our patients and doctors. The duties of a dental Assistant are very important for the functionality of our dental offices. These duties can include patient care, recordkeeping, and appointment scheduling. As a Lead Dental Assistant with X-ray, you will assist the doctor with all dental procedures including but not limited to, taking directions from the doctor, anticipating the doctor's needs.

Duties and Responsibilities 

The duties include, but are not limited to:  

  • Maintain overall efficient flow of the office
  • Understand responsibilities of each clinical staff member; recognize when staff is working well and implement procedures along with the help of the Office Manager, Dental Director and Regional Director
  • Schedule Chairside Dental Assistants with the help of the Office Manager
  • Provide progress reports on OSHA each month to the Office Manager and Dental Director
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Making sure everything is up to date for Clinical Services and maintaining emergency kits.
  • The position involves having the expertise to anticipate the patient's and the Provider's needs
  • Monitor patient flow and assist with seating when needed; ensure charts are placed in doctors’ inpatient boxes.
  • Manage inventory and supply orders for clinical and lab materials, following approval protocols.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance including sterilization units, compressors, evacuation systems, and x-ray machines.
  • Delegate tasks to Assistant Clinical Coordinator and chairside Dental Assistants; evaluate their performance.
  • Ensure lab cases are processed correctly, slips completed, and invoices matched; maintain lab logbook.
  • Maintain emergency kits, disinfectant logs, and monitor nitrous/oxygen tanks.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding safety and sterilization.
  • Submit weekly equipment repair lists and ensure proper shutdown of all dental equipment daily.
  • Assist Office Manager with duties as needed; share maintenance tasks and log off systems at day’s end.
  • Anticipate needs of patients and providers to ensure smooth operations.
  • Serves as primary supervisor to provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to dental assistants and ensures adherence to ProSmile handbook policies that maintain high clinical and service standards.

Qualifications 

  • Applicable licensing required for the state in which you will work:
    • For NJ- Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license
    • For MD- Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license
    • For PA- Radiation Health and Safety certificate
  • Active CPR Certification required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • One or more years DA experience

Knowledge and Skills/Expected Competencies 

  • Knowledge of dental instruments and patient care. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate medical information to professional practitioners and/or the general public. 
  • Excellent organization, prioritization, follow up, analytical and time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
