Position Summary
As the Lead Dental Assistant w/ x-ray you will assist the doctor with all dental procedures including but not limited to, taking directions from the doctor, anticipating the doctor's needs. Other duties are as outlined below.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain overall efficient flow of the office
  • Understand responsibilities of each clinical staff member; recognize when staff is working well and implement procedures along with the help of the Office Manager, Dental Director and Regional Director
  • Schedule Chairside Dental Assistants with the help of the Office Manager
  • Provide progress reports on OSHA each month to the Office Manager and Dental Director
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
  • Making sure everything is up to date for Clinical Services and maintaining emergency kits.
Major Duties
  • Constantly watch for charts to be placed in the doctors’ inpatient box; responsible for overall patient flow of the office, seating patients in dental chairs when one is available and all chairside Dental Assistants are too busy to call the next patient in
  • Control and be responsible for inventory and supplies for clinical and laboratory materials; all supplies are to be approved and proper procedures followed
  • Responsible for seeing that hand pieces are lubricated (if applicable) and working properly
  • Delegate responsibilities to the Assistant Clinical Coordinator (if one is assigned)
  • Delegate duties to chairside Dental Assistants and follow up on assignments
  • Provide an evaluation of the chairside Dental Assistants
  • Report any mishaps to the Office Manager, Dental Director and Regional Director (e.g. running out of necessary supplies, problems with instruments, chairs, etc.)
  • Responsible for matching lab receipts/invoices received and forwarding them to the Comptroller’s office; for matching lab bills to lab cases received and following established protocols; and for sending lab cases out promptly. Laboratory slips should be fully completed and entered into the logbook
  • Ensures that lab slips are signed for
  • Responsible to see that all sterilization equipment is working properly
  • Review and update the Emergency First Aid Kit every three (3) months
  • Keep a log of dates when disinfectant solutions were changed, especially on the counter baths; place a sticker on the baths to indicate the date when solutions were changed
  • Check the status of nitrous and oxygen tanks
  • Check operatories and dental equipment
  • Be prepared at all times to answer patient inquires about safety, sterilization and instruments
  • Responsible for the functioning of the compressor and evacuating systems
  • Check to see that all evacuation lines have been cleaned
  • Turn on the x-ray developer and adjust the level of chemicals (if applicable)
  • Check all dental units and x-ray machines for proper working order
  • Be sure that the following equipment is turned off at the end of the day: developer; nitrous and oxygen tanks; carpule warmers; compressor; suction units; x-ray machines; lights
  • May enter treatment plans for the doctors in the computer to expedite treatment
  • Submit weekly repair and equipment list to Corporate
  • Place timely-submitted orders for supplies
  • Assists Office Manager when necessary, performing other assigned duties
  • Shares maintenance duties when and where able
  • Logs-off computer at end of day
Complexity
  • The position involves having the expertise to anticipate the patient's and the Provider's needs
Qualifications
  • Applicable licensing required for the state in which you will work:
    • For NJ- Dental Radiologic Technologist (DRT) license
  • CPR
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excell
  • At least one year DA experience
